The concept for this artwork was based on the figure 8, Möbius strip – a surface with only one side and only one boundary. The Möbius strip here is used as a physical representation of time turning in on itself and becoming a perpetual loop. The single cover image is made of multiple mobius strips overlaid, which is also suggestive of some sort of three dimensional atom.
We conceived this idea remembering the track by 90s techno pioneer, Orbital who famously sampled this line from Star Trek:
“There is this theory of the Moebius. A twist in the fabric of space where time becomes a loop from which there is no escape. So when we reach that point, whatever happened will happen again.”
In addition to the final cover design, pictured here is also an alternate cover concept where time is visualised in a more fluid way.
